Home remedies!!
6:37 PM PST, 4/7/2008
Anyone who has kids probably has had this problem at one time or another.Lice...It's a horrible thing to have..but its even more of a pain to get rid off!!! Now they're saying that Lice are becoming immune to the treatments that are available (RID,NIX & so on).I have found a treatment that does not use harsh chemicals...No burning scalps, makes nit removal easier & re-infestation is rare!! Want to now how make your own at home just keep reading..I searched high & low for alternative treatments when my two girls got head lice from school & every thing I could find was charging an outrageous fee for information or worse $30 bucks for a tiny bottle of only god knows what to put on my little one's heads..So I began to research & try different things & here is what I found to work the best of all.....
Take child to brightest light you have(sunlight is best) take 1/2 cup lemon juice & 1/2 cup baby oil mix together & apply to hair..be sure to work it through to the scalp., Best to use a small toothed-comb to comb it through really good..Let this sit for an hour or so(wrap their head in a plastic grocery bag & tie or use a disposable shower cap) after the hour is up rinse hair..apply COCONUT scented conditioner(suave makes a cheap, but effective coconut conditioner)Let conditioner sit for 3-4 minutes.DO NOT RINSE!! Take child back to bright light & with a lice comb(available for a couple bucks at drug store) Comb hair ..Be sure to pay close attention to nape of neck & the thickest part of hair at crown of head.It will take a while to remove nits.but you want to make sure you get them..but the oil allows for easy removal with out pulling hair..Once you remove all nits.Wash child's hair with dandruff shampoo such as selson blue or head & shoulders..then apply more coconut condition.dry & style as usual..be sure to soak all brushes hair bows etc in hottest water possible to kill anything left on thwm..Wash bedding...vaccum mattresses etc..Same cleaning you would do when using any other lice treatment. But instead of spraying mattresses/furniture with harmful chemicals..mix 1/2 cup coconut shampoo with some warm water in a spray bottle & spray everything..Something in the coconut the lice do not like & it causes them to avoid that..I hope this helps someone who felt the same as I did..to prevent another outbreak..wash child's hair with coconut shampoo once a week...

Buttermilk Baby Soap
Buttermilk soap is another of those old time recipes that if our grandmothers didn't make themselves then they sure used what their mothers made! Milk of some form has been used as early as Cleopatra's time for its gentle properties for the skin. Since milk contains lactic acid then it helps in the gentle exfoliation of the dead skin that accumulates on our bodies.
what you'll need:
2oz's buttermilk powder
1/2 teaspoon olive oil
Melt & Pour Soap Base (can use any style base)
Baby Powder Fragrance
Mold of your choice
First step; melt base (do not allow boil)
step 2: reconstitute buttermilk by adding warm water & stir until it's just like milk.
step 3: add buttermilk to base as well as olive oil & fragrance still very very well.
step 4: our into mold & allow time to harden before removing from mold
Now you have a delicate moisturizing bar for your little ones!!!
